Youth—After School and Summer Program

Adult Program | Drum Lessons | Dance Classes
The African Arts Academy Youth Program offers engaging, culturally rich activities that support your child’s academic achievement, boost confidence, promote good health, and help reduce depression. Our after-school and summer programs are designed for children ages five to seventeen, providing them with fun experiences that build lifelong skills.
This program also helps keep youth safe by offering positive alternatives to spending time on the streets, reducing exposure to drugs, gun violence, and other high-risk environments. Our goal is to empower participants through enrichment activities that uplift them both academically and socially.
In addition, our Student Exchange Program offers scholarships for qualified students to travel to Côte d’Ivoire, West Africa. Participants take part in a specialized dance residency with one of our affiliated dance companies, gaining invaluable cultural and artistic experience.
Our vision is to empower youth from historically marginalized neighborhoods in San Francisco, particularly the Bayview, an African American Arts and Cultural District, as well as young people from diverse backgrounds across the African Diaspora. Our programs are also open to anyone interested in learning African dance or drumming.

This program is perfect for students from ages 5 to 17 years old for the after-school enrichment program. We offer summer camps and workshops throughout the year with our school partners.
